The hubris, it hurts!

I know America is just as full of right wing crazy as fundamentalist religious crazy, but this ices the cake! http://conservapedia.com/Conservative_Bible_Project

The aim of this project is to edit the bible to remove liberal bias. WTF? Ok, all translations are inherently flawed and open to interpretation, so there is room for the notion that there is some room for error (which is conveniently forgotten by all the 'literal word of god' supporters out there.) But reading some of their justifications and interpretations? Some of the ones that leapt out and punched me in the eye:

Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms: using powerful new conservative terms as they develop;defective translations use the word "comrade" three times as often as "volunteer"; similarly, updating words which have a change in meaning, such as "word", "peace", and "miracle".

Word? Word has changed in meaning? Peace used to mean something else?

Combat Harmful Addiction: combating addiction by using modern terms for it, such as "gamble" rather than "cast lots"; using modern political terms, such as "register" rather than "enroll" for the census

Ok, wacky arsed ideas like saying casting lots is gambling to prevent gambling addiction aside, WTF does using the word 'register' instead of 'enroll' have to do with addiction? Unless US ultra-conservatives are concerned that education is addictive and people shouldn't enroll in it.

identify pro-liberal terms used in existing Bible translations, such as "government", and suggest more accurate substitutes

... ah... er...
No, sorry, I just don't having anything for this one. My mind is sitting in a pool of it's own drool making b-b-b-b-b-b-b noises.

First Example - Liberal Falsehood

The earliest, most authentic manuscripts lack this verse set forth at Luke 23:34:[7]

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

Is this a liberal corruption of the original? This does not appear in any other Gospel, and the simple fact is that some of the persecutors of Jesus did know what they were doing. This quotation is a favorite of liberals but should not appear in a conservative Bible.

Them evil liberals have been around some time then, huh! Editing our bible like that - shame on them!

Third Example - Socialism

Socialistic terminology permeates English translations of the Bible, without justification. This improperly encourages the "social justice" movement among Christians.

For example, the conservative word "volunteer" is mentioned only once in the ESV, yet the socialistic word "comrade" is used three times, "laborer(s)" is used 13 times, "labored" 15 times, and "fellow" (as in "fellow worker") is used 55 times.

Because Jesus would never approve of helping others. And who'd have though 'labourer' was a commie word?

Seriously, no matter where you stand on the political fence (and I'm guessing most of you can spot I'm firmly in the left wing camp) this is disturbing - not only using the Bible to justify all sorts of bullshit, but now editing it to further their ends, and justifying it by claiming previous translators were biased. How much more hypocritical can you get?
