Last night (June 4) godless held a pub crawl. It was a pastafarian themed night, so a few of us were dressed as pirates. We started at Fasta Pasta where we had dinner; a novel idea for a pub crawl as it ensured that no one was drinking on an empty stomach.
After some delicious pasta meals, we sailed on over to The Brecknock to start some serious drinking. As we made the hazardous crossing of the Asphalt River, the captain A cyclist was carrying around donation pots for Deaf CanDo and we all donated generously. We gave him a mighty Arrrgh! as he left and headed back inside the pub.
Deciding it was time to move on we once again set sail, this time our destination was to be the Crown and Scepter; however, upon arrival and entering the establishment we could barely move so we disembarked and made a decision to commandeer the SS Flexity for our journey up northwards towards that infamous underground pirate den that is the Bull and Bear.
Upon arrival at the Bull and Bear Matt, one of our past presidents started talking to the owner to discover she loved the design of the bandanna's and was herself an atheist too. There was also something about him meeting a former teacher of his from high school, and something about her having been to 11 pubs already... Much drinking and fun was had here.
A gentleman expressed interest in purchasing one of our bandanna's; however, upon finding out the organisation that they were for (godless) declined buying one... It might have been said by a current president that we should sit him down and make him cry by discussing his childish and bigotted beliefs, but we were having to much fun drinking and talking to worry about it.
We set sail again for our final port of call, the infamous Pancake Kitchen. We discovered they had prepared a piano for our imminent arrival for us to sing traditional pirate songs on, including a group rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, The Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite (complete with myself strutting my way up and down the room). The pancakes were delicious and those and the singing were the perfect way to end a great pubcrawl. It's going to be hard to top, but we're already planning the next crawl now!
